Extra-curricular work, workshops, and collaborations that extend my practice into communities and shared learning environments.

Visual, Carlow.

Visual is where all arts come together in my hometown, it has a unique way of being accessible to a wide range of the public including; children, displaced, vunerable, disabled and elderly. Being front desk meant I dealt with a lot of qeuries first hand in offering support, tours and a welcoming atmosphere. My inate teaching abiltiy goes hand in hand with this role as it requires attentiveness and its something that really interest me outside of the classroom,

Workshop Visual Mollie Anna King.jpg

VISUAL has hosted a Summer School with workshops such as cyanotype-making, papermaking, furniture-making, and nature-based making (e.g., foraging and mandala-making).

camps usually include:

  • exhibition exploration

  • learning new techniques

  • storytelling and creative thinking

  • collaboration with other young people

  • supervised making sessions

Assisting in these workshops enable a strong sense of community exploring the local environment and shared connection to it.

Working with Technician Niall Cullen at NCAD, Dublin, and working with Mollia Anna King in a furniture building workshop during the summer school program provided me the ability to embrace cross-curricular woodworking and art because they complement each other beautifully in creating spaces for meaningful creation.
